Dr. D. James Kennedy 11.3.1930-9.5.2007

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. (2 Timothy 4.7-8 ESV)

From his tribute site:
“Now, I know that someday I am going to come to what some people will say is the end of this life. They will probably put me in a box and roll me right down here in front of the church, and some people will gather around, and a few people will cry. But I have told them not to do that because I don’t want them to cry. I want them to begin the service with the Doxology and end with the Hallelujah chorus, because I am not going to be there, and I am not going to be dead. I will be more alive than I have ever been in my life, and I will be looking down upon you poor people who are still in the land of dying and have not yet joined me in the land of the living. And I will be alive forevermore, in greater health and vitality and joy than ever, ever, I or anyone has known before.”

D. James Kennedy, Ph.D.
The thing that bothers me is that I have only seen the story about his death on  CNN, Fox News, DrudgeReport- all silent.  What is the deal?

Dr. D. James Kennedy lived his life as a shining example.  He did not find himself embroiled in scandals, but did an effective job in proclaiming the Gospel.  I rejoice that he is now in the presence of our Savior.  The world has lost a great voice sharing the Gospel in power and truth.

Maybe the lack of coverage reflects on his ability to keep a clear testimony.  No sex scandals, no fraud, no notorious slips of the tongue and retractions.  Just a man living out a walk with Christ and preaching the Gospel without compromise.  He was into politics, but, unlike others, politics was not into him.  I thank God for Dr. D. James Kennedy's influence in my life.

Anyway, there is now one less television preacher to watch.  How many are there left?  For me, one or two.

I'v watched Dr. Kennedy's program for years and have learned that even my text books were skewered. He reminded me and anyone who would listen that America was founded upon Christian values. Not religious freedom. Who would want religious freedom? Free to worship Satan, birds, bees, cows, a fat man. Me, I want to worship Jesus. Anyway, Dr. Kennedy was a scholar of the highest tradition and is still being missed today.
